Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Good value Bought for emergency use only, to power a sump pump and maybe a gas fired heating system in winter. Used only once so far, to help a friend during power outage. It started up easily. They were able to run their heating system (hot air), which was nice because temp was down to freezing at night. Since then I tested it one other time during mid-winter, to make sure it would work in cold weather, and it started up no problem. This unit has one duplex outlet with 15 amp breaker. Only enough power for essentials, but that's all I wanted. It is relative small, and one able bodied person can move it if required.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Still think I made a good choice, BUT,... The first, "just out of the box" test run was at once a success and a failure. The success: It started (took a few pulls but that's no surprise with the carb and fuel lines empty) and ran smoothly (it's quieter than I expected - a bonus). The "fail" part: BOTH vibration mounts on the unit's left side ("left" relative to the end where the recoil starter, air cleaner, and choke lever are located) BROKE (rubber and metal separated) while I was attempting to start it (and no, I didn't use excessive force pulling the starter rope). I'll be contacting Customer Service about getting replacements.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from Two critical FAILURES during 11 day outage! I purchased the GP1800 to power a natural gas forced hot air unit. After losing power during hurricane Sandy, I used it for most of the first day and night to keep my wife and child warm. I returned home from work to find that the recoil starter assembly had failed, causing the recoil assembly to spin with the crankshaft of the engine, effectively destroying itself. I was able to remove the assembly and start the unit with a length of para-cord. On day 7 of our outage, only using the unit for approx. 6 hours per day to alternately power the heat and 2 refrigerators (individually), the unit just stopped working. The engine had seized, crankshaft unable to move at all. Oil level was okay and was checked every morning before start-up. Hopefully warranty service will be able to repair or replace unit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Delighted Just received the new GP1800. It was easy to setup, manual is easy to follow with good diagrams and explanations, and above all it was easy to start. We have been hit with some terribly bad weather this winter (and flooding in summer) and I was determined not to be without power again. This unit will provide enough power for the primary needs. Wish it had a couple of more outlets but will manage fine. It is reassuring to have a good unit like this always available for use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great value I am a female, own a home and needed a generator I could handle in an emergency. I am able to move this generator, fill it and start it with no problems. It is reasonably quiet. It runs for a significant length of time without needing a refill (+/- 6 hours). During a weeklong power outage during a tropical storm, it kept my refrigerator on, my sump pump going, some lights on and I was able to charge my cell phone. It did everything I needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from excellent backup I own a home in Alaska. Power outages are frequent outside the city, and it's dark a lot in the winter. I needed something to power some lights and a portable heater to keep a room warm during extended outages. Excellent bang for my buck. The on/off switch broke the 2nd time I used this unit, but I just went to the hardware store and picked up a toggle switch and wired it in myself. No biggie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Very quiet and good on gas I bought this generator to keep our fridges going during a 4 day power outage but I was able to do more. It also produced enough power to also run with the fridges a few lights, or my water pump or my sump pump. It's also light enough that one person can handle it quite easily. It starts very easily so practically anybody could start it. Great generator for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great for me Being a senior citizen,I needed less complicated products. This generator is exactly what I needed for me to maintain. Not as heavy as some and makes it easier for me to move it without help.Coming from an area with frequent storms causing power outages, this is just right for what I need..
