Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Just what i expected! I always do a major investigation before i purchase anything expensive.Sometimes it takes me weeks.I read everything including reviews. Finally after days of asking questions and reading many reviews i felt the Genarac GP6500 was right for me.I was right.Assembly was easy and took about 15 mins.Filled it with the oil that was provided and it started in two pulls. The unit was powerful enough to power up my whole house except the clothes dryer and electric oven.No more freezing in the winter or sitting in the dark.It is relativley quit and ran about 10 hrs on a tank of gas.I am very satisfied with my purchase and you can't beat the quality of Genarac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Love the generator!! I purchased my GP6500 primarily to run power tools. I have a large lot which makes it impractical to use an extension cord. I opened the box and followed the instructions on assembly which was easy (putting oil in the machine, wheels on etc.). I put gas in it and it started flawlessly. I have run a 15 amp table saw and shop vac simultaneously with no problem. In addition, I plugged in a power washer and ran it for hours without an incident. When you start it and hear it run you can tell it is a quality machine. It has a lot of power and runs very smooth. I even use it when I have access to power because I like it so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Works great right out of the box I was amazed on easy everything was and how well it was all explained. Setup took less than 10 minutes and you just have to fill with the oil supplied and fill with gas. Getting the gas took the longest time of the whole setup process. Started on the first pull and ran like a champ. It runs quiet and and with very little vibration. I purchased this unit because I am sick out power outages and this is the best investment made for that problem. It will run everything that is needed when your power goes out, to get you by without damage to your home or your pocketbook. Best Investment I ever made, don't know what took me so long to get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great product I have had the pleasure of not having to use my generator that I purchased just over a year ago. However for the first time this summer it was finally used but yet again not by me. During a series of severe weather outbreak a friend of mine last power due to downed trees. I offer my generator to him to help keep his basement from flooding. His intention were just to use it for the sump pump. He ended up running not only the pump, but his freezers, refrigerator, air conditioning units and other things. He used it for 40 hours straight and forgot he was even on a generator until he had to fill it after the first 27 hours of run time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Excellent Generator-Generac GP6500 Bought this Generator used with 100 hours in it (4 days of use) got a great price and looks and works like new! I can run everything in house, all lights, electric stove (not oven), heat (furnace) & hot water heater. Haven't tried to run the central air unit yet but the heat and hot water is more important, anyway I ran everything with no hesitation or strain on generator. I gave it a 4 on features because I wish it had a voltage meter on it otherwise all 5's! Full tank of gas you should get 8+hours run time with everything I described above, I Love this Generator and now ready for any outage, may not need for 3 years but will be ready when it happens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Excellent Generator This is a great product for the price. The generator starts easily and runs fairly quiet. The fuel tank is huge and i can get about 8 hours out of a tank.I gave it 4 stars for only one reason and that is because of the wheels. This generator is very heavy and they should have sealed bearings on the wheels because when you have to move it on grass it is hard to push or pull.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from You get what is advertised I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940). I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain. So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome! Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Professional Quality Bought this unit during a major power outage following a wind storm. Easy to set up, but unit didn't like full choke setting to start in high temp. Used 2 120V outlets for my house. One to connect to a strip to power freezer, modem & router in basement. Also ran sump pump b4 connecting to freezer. Connected 2nd outlet to strip on 1st floor to run fridge, LCD TV and fan. Let one of my neighbors use 3rd 120V outlet to run his fridge & freezer. Heard change in pitch of generator, when a compressor powered up. Unit worked without problem for 10½ hours, when commercial power came back up. Used about a full 7.2 gal tank. Very pleased with performance. It was a little noisy in the room next to the deck, where it sat, but not unbearable.
